about

This collection of tunes is a memorial to my father, Hugo Plasencia, presented on the anniversary of his birth, in the year of his death. It is my hope that this will serve as a testimony to his love of music and his sharing that love of this most noble art with me.

My profound thanks are offered to the musicians who came together, on a moment’s notice, to record this EP:

• Dave Hunt – Drums
• Greg Spaulding – Piano
• RJ Root – Guitar; and
• Donna Deussen – Vocals.

My thanks to Paul Weitz, who recorded and mastered these tracks.

So what does one say, standing now only five months since my Dad’s passing? I think the poet Ernest Dowson put it best:

VITAE SUMMA BREVIS SPEM NOS VETAT INCOHARE LONGHAM

They are not long, the weeping and the laughter,
Love and desire and hate:
I think they have no portion in us after
We pass the gate.
They are not long, the days of wine and roses:
Out of a misty dream
Our path emerges for a while, then closes
Within a dream.

Thank you for listening. I hope you enjoy.
